Random 5 {Transparent Tuesday}

Today instead of a full fledged post we're going to get a little random. So, five "transparent" things.

I don't like batteries. I don't like toys that take batteries. They're expensive, they're hard to dispose of, they die quickly in toys that are super annoying with the beeps, lights, and general cacophony. Give me a quiet non-beeping toy any day.

Below is my "battery cupboard" in all its glory (disarray).

Food storage containers. Where do they go!? I never have a shortage of lids, but they're not the lids I actually need when it comes to the containers I've filled. And yes, I fill the containers with leftovers before finding the matching lid. Every. Time. Maybe it's due to my storage container organizational skills. See below.

People ask me (and every other homeschooler), "How do you do it? You must be so organized!" The answer to that is, "No, I'm not." I don't always plan lessons way ahead of time. I homeschool creatively. At least I'd like to think so...

Below is a glimpse of our homeschooling supplies for the coming year. I'm ahead of the game, because the curriculum is already here. So, there's that.

As far as the organization part. Well, that has yet to be done.

There are a lot of feet in our house and there is not much storage for foot apparel. Here is what our shoe storage looks like. It is a lot better than the old shoe rack we used to have that would collapse when you bumped it. So, really I have no complaints.

My house gets super dusty just like yours! I don't do a lot of dusting. I dole that job out to the kids. They do a pretty great job. My computer hasn't been dusted in I'm not sure how long, though. So, there ya go - computer dust.

Today is Transparent Tuesday!

I invite you to link up and join me in an effort to cast aside the filters we use to depict our lives as always being perfect. We all have a story to tell. The best stories are those where ordinary people rise up and work through the tough situations, the unseemly moments, the mundane, and the unglamorous.

All you have to do to link up is:

1. Either merely post a picture that depicts something in an honest way (just for example it could be a dirty room, or a selfie with you without your makeup on). Write a small caption to go along with your picture. OR, instead of a picture you can write a post that gives an authentic glimpse of your life.

2. Copy the url for your post (not your site) in the link below.

3. Finally, last but not least copy the code for the Transparent Tuesday graphic and attach it to your post so that other people can come and see all the other posts for Transparent Tuesday. The more the graphic is shared, the more people will be able to participate!

Thanks for linking up! The graphic and link up are below:
Our Growing Roots

  1. I can't stand batteries either! I avoid toys that require them, as much as I can. :P Homeschooling life can sure be crazy - I know!!
I linked up with you this week as part of my Ten Thoughts Tuesday. I share a two-part selfie of me...how I look as a wife&mom as well as how I look as a teacher. ;)

  2. Thanks for linking up. Valerie! Yes. Batteries. Ugh!

  3. I love this! I wish I would have taken a picture of the mold in our microwave before I cleaned it out this morning to show you a picture...yes! mold in the microwave!! I didn't even know that could happen. Dusting? I have thought about it the last couple of day, maybe today is the day.

    1. Oh! You can post it this coming Tuesday. I hope you link up some time!

  4. I cracked up when I saw all the storage container lids. We have the same issue. I suspect some kind of mischevious elf breaking in at night.

  5. Those containers lids-where DO they go? I thought it was just me!

Our shoe rack is getting ridiculous-I saw a cool storage shoe dresser thingy from Ikea's new catalog! It holds up to 18 pairs of shoes.

    1. A couple years ago I spent far too much time searching for the *perfect* shoe rack. It was slightly ridiculous. At the same time, shoes are always everywhere! Thanks for the tip! I might have to research that one! ;) Thank you for stopping by!
