She was a complete surprise - from the unexpected pregnancy two months after having just given birth, to the fact that she was a... she. Born in the middle of the biggest snowstorm that winter three weeks early to the day. I labored easily walking the halls with my sister and my best friend singing songs and coaxing my girl out. Then, she was born and I fell in love, completely head over heels in love. We named her Seraphine after the fiery angels that stand at the throne of God.
She was tiny and perfect and sweet. Our first little girl. The house exploded with pink. My imagination ran wild thinking of all the girly things we would be able to do together in the future. I had never thought I would have a girl, but now I couldn't imagine my life any other way.
She turned one and we dressed her up and bought her dolls. She grew little curls at the nape of her neck.
She was the earliest to laugh and my goodness, is her laugh contagious.
She turned two.
Two year old girl was a new experience in our house and an adventure like no other. She became obsessed with Cinderella and jewelry, she ate the tomatoes off the tomato plants until there were hardly any left, she plugged the sink in the bathroom causing it to overflow, she learned that painting her fingernails and toenails was awesome, and she wrapped us around her little finger with her insatiable passion for life.
Today she turns three and we begin a new year that is sure to be full of adventure and fun if Seraphine has anything to do with it! Happy Birthday, sweet girl. You are the best unexpected surprise ever.
